Set up NFC check-in

Swap the scan for a one-second tap on an NFC sticker.

  1. Make sure you're on Espresso

NFC check-in comes with Espresso, alongside near-the-shop check-in, one phone per person and managers. On the free plan you'll see an Espresso badge beside the switch.

  2. Turn on NFC check-in

Shop settings → the NFC check-in card → flip the switch, then Save. That's what puts the “Tap NFC tag” button on each staff member's home screen in the app.

  3. Copy your check-in link

Today → the check-in code card. Under the QR there's a “For NFC tags” row with the link — hit the copy icon. It looks like https://dailybrew.work/checkin/<your-token>. Every shop has its own, so copy each one separately if you run more than one.

  4. Buy NTAG213 NFC stickers

An NTAG213 holds 137 bytes — plenty for our link — and runs about $0.50–$1 each. Search “NTAG213 sticker” on Amazon or Lazada. Round ones for the host stand, PVC cards for the till, key fobs for managers. NTAG215 works too if you want the headroom.

  5. Install a free tag-writing app

On whichever phone you'll write the tags with, install NFC Tools (wakdev, free on iOS and Android) or NXP TagWriter on Android. You only need it once.

  6. Write the link onto a sticker

In NFC Tools: Write → Add a record → URL/URI → paste your link → OK → Write. Hold the phone against a blank sticker. A buzz after a second or two means it's done. Repeat for each sticker.

  7. Lock the stickers (worth doing)

In NFC Tools: Other → Lock tag. The sticker turns read-only for good, so nobody can overwrite it by accident or on purpose. Skip it if you might rewrite them later.

  8. Stick them where staff already walk

Front of the host stand, under the bar lip, by the back door. The phone has to come within a centimetre or four, so keep them off glass and thick wood. A small “Tap to check in” label beside each one saves a lot of questions on day one.

  9. Test the tap

Lock your phone, or close DailyBrew. Tap the sticker. On an iPhone XS or newer a banner drops down — tap it. Older iPhones want the app open first. Android handles both on its own. After Face ID or your passcode, you're checked in.

  10. Pair it with your check-in rules

A tap only proves a phone touched the sticker. Pair it with Near the shop only, Shop WiFi only or One phone per person — all already in Shop settings — so a copied tag is no use to anybody from down the road.
