Built for Cambodian shops

Staff attendance app for restaurants in Cambodia

DailyBrew defaults to Phnom Penh time, runs in Khmer, and handles the shifts Cambodian F&B actually works — the 6pm-to-2am close, the Pchum Ben shutdown, the kitchen porter with no smartphone. Free for up to 10 staff, and nobody has to scan a fingerprint.

Khmer, not translated-English

The whole app runs in ខ្មែរ — not just the marketing page. Your staff check in, request leave and read their own hours in Khmer on their own phone.

Phnom Penh time by default

Asia/Phnom_Penh is the default timezone on a new shop. Whether an 08:05 arrival is late, and which day a 1am clock-out belongs to, are decided in your time — not UTC.

Staff with no smartphone

Kitchen and cleaning staff often have no phone and no email. A physical card tapped at the counter clocks them in — no account, no app, no shared PIN. Espresso.

Verified clock-ins, made for restaurants in Cambodia

Every clock-in is tied to one phone and your shop's network — the same three checks behind stopping buddy punching. No biometrics, no face scans. Add shifts, leave and notifications when you need them.

The 2am close is one shift, not two days

A bar or restaurant closing at 1 or 2 in the morning breaks most attendance tools: the clock-out lands on the next calendar day, so the night reads as a missing check-out plus a mystery early arrival, and the hours come out negative. DailyBrew treats a shift whose end time is earlier than its start — 18:00 to 02:00 — as one night, filed under the day the shift started, which is the day you are paying for. The clock-out is recorded against that night wherever it lands, a +1 marker shows on the record so nobody misreads it, and if someone forgets to clock out, a manager can enter the real time afterwards with a reason attached.

Khmer New Year, Pchum Ben and Water Festival

Cambodian F&B does not run a European holiday calendar. Closed days let you mark when your shop is shut, and attendance simply stops expecting anyone on those dates — no absent flags, no late flags, no chasing staff about a day you closed. Mark it once for a multi-day festival and the whole stretch is covered. Closed days work backwards too, so marking a shutdown after the fact repairs the records rather than leaving a week of false absences.

Proof of presence without biometrics

Cambodian shops are usually verifying honesty, not running a security programme, and collecting fingerprints or face scans creates a data-protection liability most owners do not want. DailyBrew verifies presence three other ways instead: the punch has to come from the employee's own verified device, from your shop's internet connection, and — if you turn it on — from inside a radius you draw around the shop. Nothing biometric is collected or stored, and the same three checks are what stop one member of staff clocking in for another. All three are Espresso features; the free plan records honest times but does not verify where they came from.

More than one outlet

Groups running several outlets can give each location its own QR code, with its own network and location rules, and put a manager over just that location's staff. Each outlet's attendance stays separate; you see all of them from one account without logging in and out of separate systems.

What DailyBrew does not do

It does not run payroll. There are no payslips, no USD/KHR conversion, no NSSF filing and no bank batch export — DailyBrew produces the verified hours and hands them off. On Espresso you can export attendance as XLSX, PDF or CSV for whoever does your payroll, or pull it straight into your own system through the API. It also does not handle split shifts: a shift has one start and one end per day, and an employee holds one shift, so a genuine 10:00–14:00 plus 18:00–22:00 rota cannot be written down as such. Either record the whole span, 10:00 to 22:00, and accept that the unpaid break sits inside it, or keep the two blocks outside DailyBrew.

Frequently asked

Is it really free?+

Yes — free forever for up to 10 active staff, and we don't ask for a card. Paid plans add one phone per person (device verification), shop WiFi only (IP restriction), leave and more.

Do staff need to install an app?+

No. Staff point their phone camera at a QR code and check in from the page that opens — nothing to download. An NFC tag works the same way: the tag holds a web link, so a phone without the app just opens it in a browser. The app keeps them signed in and remembers the phone, which is why we still suggest it.

How does it stop buddy punching?+

Each clock-in is tied to a verified device and your shop's network. A punch from somebody else's phone, or from off your network, won't count — and nothing biometric is collected.

What if someone forgets their phone?+

A manager clocks them in from Today. It's saved with the manager's name, the time and the reason, so the day still adds up and nothing changes quietly.

Is DailyBrew available in Khmer?+

Yes. The entire product — owner console, mobile app and the check-in screen your staff see — runs in Khmer, alongside English and French. Each person picks their own language, so a Khmer-speaking cook and an English-speaking manager use the same shop in the language they read.

Does it work on Cambodian phone networks?+

Check-in is a single web request over whatever connection the phone has, so it works on mobile data from any Cambodian carrier as well as on shop WiFi. If you turn on network restriction, staff must be on your shop's connection to clock in, which is what ties the punch to the premises.

Can staff without a smartphone clock in?+

Yes, with a physical card tapped at a kiosk on the counter. The card is the credential, so the employee needs no phone, no email address and no account at all. This is an Espresso feature.

Does DailyBrew calculate payroll or NSSF contributions?+

No. DailyBrew tracks attendance and produces verified hours; it does not calculate wages, generate payslips or file NSSF. Export the hours as XLSX, PDF or CSV, or connect the API, and pass them to whoever runs your payroll.

How much does it cost in Cambodia?+

It is free for up to 10 active employees, with no time limit and no card required. Espresso is $19.99 a month for up to 20 employees and adds card check-in, location and network restriction, leave management and different hours each day. Billing is in USD.
